How do you write a revoking power of attorney letter?

A Power of Attorney (POA) is usually a multiple-page, formal document that must comply with local or state laws. An authorization letter is typically less than a one-pager and relatively informal, and while it may be honored by the person receiving it, it's not state law to accept it.

Once a POA is given, and you want to revoke it, you need to make a formal Revocation of Power of Attorney letter.

Sample content: I hereby give notice that I have revoked, and do hereby revoke, the power of attorney dated given to, empowering said to act as my true and lawful attorney in fact to handle my financial affairs should I become incapacitated and be unable to do so myself, and I declare that all power and authority granted under said power of attorney is hereby revoked and withdrawn.

What are different types of Authorization Letters or Power Of Attorney?
  • Ordinary or Non-Durable Authorization letter or POA.
  • Enduring/Lasting or Durable Authorization letter or POA.
  • Special or Limited Authorization letter or POA.
  • Medical Authorization letter or POA.
  • Springing Authorization letter or POA.

Is it Authorization or Authorisation?
Authorise is used in all main varieties of English outside North America. In the USA and Canada people are using “authorize”, “authorizing”, “authorized”, and “authorization”, while British English speakers use “authorise”, “authorising”, “authorised”, and “authorisation”.
