The flag of Slovakia, known as the "Trikolóra," was officially adopted on September 1, 1992, when Slovakia became an independent nation following the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia. The flag of Slovakia consists of three horizontal stripes of equal width, arranged from top to bottom in the following colors:
