In the center of the red stripe, there is the national emblem of Afghanistan, which consists of a mosque with a pulpit and flags on either side, below the pulpit, are Eastern Arabic numerals for the solar year 1298 (1919 in the Gregorian calendar, the year of Afghan independence from the UK), and this central image is circled by a border consisting of sheaves of wheat on the left and right, in the upper-center is an Arabic inscription of the Shahada (the Muslim creed) below which are rays of the rising sun over the Takbir (Arabic expression meaning "God is great"), and at bottom-center is a scroll bearing the name Afghanistan.

The flag of Afghanistan consists of three vertical stripes of black, red, and green, from left to right, with the national emblem in the center. Each color and element on the flag has its own symbolic meaning:

  1. Black Stripe: The black stripe represents the dark past and struggles that Afghanistan has faced throughout its history, including periods of conflict and hardship.
  2. Red Stripe: The red stripe symbolizes the blood shed by Afghan people in their fight for independence, as well as their courage and valor.
  3. Green Stripe: The green stripe represents hope for a bright future, prosperity, and Islam, which is the dominant religion in Afghanistan.
  4. National Emblem: In the center of the flag is the national emblem of Afghanistan. This emblem features a mosque with a pulpit and flags on either side, below which are Eastern Arabic numerals for the solar year 1298 in the Islamic calendar (1919 in the Gregorian calendar, which corresponds to Afghanistan's year of independence from British influence). Above the mosque are the words "Allahu Akbar" (meaning "God is Great"), which is a common Islamic phrase.

Overall, the flag of Afghanistan is a symbol of the country's history, struggles, and aspirations for a peaceful and prosperous future under the principles of Islam. Please note that the flag's design and symbolism might be subject to change depending on the political and historical context in the country.
