Basics for thank you notes

  • Use the thank you note to reiterate your interest in the position, to clarify or include information that may not have come up in the interview, and to emphasize your qualifications for the job.
  • The letter should be succinct and direct. The primary goal is to express gratitude for the interview.
  • Within two days of the interview, the letter must be delivered.

Tips 

  • You should write letters to everyone who interviewed you at the company. This can include the hiring manager, the human resources manager, and anyone else who spoke with you for a sizable portion of the interview.
  • Check names and titles on the website or call the company to be sure if you are doubtful. After the interview, you can also gather business cards and/or contact information.
