We all know that the eye is the window of the mind and one of the most important organs in our body.

But now we can find that the problems of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism are constantly emerging. Especially among the students, myopia is a very serious phenomenon, which is mostly caused by our inappropriate use of eyes. Therefore, we should protect our eyes and make regular checks for them. Therefore, in daily life, remember not to overuse our eyes, our eyes also need appropriate rest and adjustment.

Refraction is the act or process of refracting, specifically the determination of the refractive errors of the eye and their correction with glasses.

In physics, "refraction" is the mechanism that bends the path of light through the eye. In an eye exam, the term refraction is the determination of the ideal correction of refractive error. Refractive error is an optical abnormality in which the shape of the eye fails to bring light into sharp focus on the retina, resulting in blurred or distorted vision. Examples of refractive error are myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

An eye examination is a series of tests to assess vision and ability to focus on and discern objects, as well as other tests and examinations pertaining to the eyes. Health care professionals often recommend that all people should have periodic and thorough eye examinations as part of routine primary care, especially since many eye diseases are asymptomatic.

Eye examinations may detect potentially treatable blinding eye diseases, ocular manifestations of systemic disease, or signs of tumours or other anomalies of the brain.

Eye exams for children
Early eye exams are important because children need the following basic visual skills for learning:

  1. Near vision
  2. Distance vision: Tumbling E chart, Landolt C chart
  3. Eye teaming (binocularity)
  4. Eye movement
  5. Accommodation (focusing skills)
  6. Peripheral vision
  7. Eye-hand coordination

Frequent examination of multiple eyes can effectively help us prevent myopia.
