Students who lack experience reading and writing the reflective essay usually respond in limited ways to prompts: (1) they fail to ground their reflections in concrete observations or personal anecdotes or do so only superficially and then write a conventional "expository" essay about the idea in the topic (2) they narrate a relevant personal experience but then neglect write to explore the idea it suggests or do so only briefly, often in a moral....
