The flag of Grenada, also known as the "Grenadian flag" or the "Flag of Grenada," consists of six equal horizontal stripes of red and yellow, with a green isosceles triangle extending from the hoist side (the side closest to the flagpole) and bearing a red-bordered yellow five-pointed star. The flag's design and colors have several symbolic meanings:

  1. Red and Yellow Stripes: The red and yellow stripes represent the sun, warmth, and the natural beauty of Grenada. These colors also symbolize the country's rich agricultural resources and its fertile lands.
  2. Green Triangle: The green triangle on the hoist side of the flag represents Grenada's lush vegetation and mountainous terrain. It symbolizes the country's natural environment and the beauty of its landscape.
  3. Yellow Star: The yellow star within the green triangle represents the unity and harmonious coexistence of the different ethnic groups and communities in Grenada.
  4. Red Border: The red border around the yellow star and within the green triangle symbolizes the sacrifices made by the Grenadian people throughout their history, particularly during the struggle for independence.

The flag of Grenada was officially adopted on February 7, 1974, when the country gained independence from British colonial rule. It replaced the previous colonial flag and became a symbol of Grenada's sovereignty, natural beauty, cultural diversity, and the unity of its people.
