Dear Ms. Smith,
Thank you for reviewing my application for employment to the upcoming nursing
residency program at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. It has been my
privilege to complete my senior practicum at UCSF Benioff, and I would relish the
opportunity to join your team as a Registered Nurse. I have not only acquired
important clinical skills during my senior clinical rotation at UCSF Benioff, I have
also come to admire, understand and adopt the values of this incredible
institution, which emphasizes unsurpassed quality, safety, and teamwork.
As my enclosed resume indicates, I am passionate about pediatric nursing. I
completed my scholarly ‘capstone’ project at the University of San Francisco on
“Best Practices in Nursing Care for Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.”
For this project, I conducted a meta-analysis of over thirty peer-reviewed articles
to identify the best-supported evidenced-based practice in this clinical area. I built
on this research during my rotation on unit 4A at UCSF Benioff, where I cared for
pediatric oncology patients, and honed my clinical skills.
I find I have a particular passion for caring for pediatric patients from
socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, and I am glad to know that
UCSF Benioff serves a diverse pediatric patient population. I believe I am
building on my former academic training in Sociology, and in the work I did before
returning to nursing school in the Peace Corps, where I gained valuable skills
and experience. Working as an RN in pediatric oncology is not only a
professional goal; it is part of my life-long desire to serve others. I admire the
professionalism, integrity and quality that UCSF Benioff embodies, and I believe
this institution is an ideal place to build my career, and to give back to my
community.
Thank you for reviewing my resume, and my application for employment. I look
forward to the opportunity to join your team at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
Sincerely,
Jane Doe
