Dear Ms. Green:
I am a second-year student at the University of Georgia School of Law, and I am writing
to apply for a position as a summer associate. I would be available to work for any or
all of the period between May 17 and August 10, 2020.
As a Georgia native, I was familiar with your firm long before I entered law school. I
also had the pleasure of hearing your partner, Joe Blue, speak at a recent law school
symposium regarding the firm’s labor and employment law practice. The firm’s
representation of management in the recent Alabama-based mining company litigation
was quite impressive.
I have been interested in labor and employment matters since college. My
undergraduate training in management sciences helped me develop an understanding of
the fundamentals of employment relationships. During the past semester, I completed
an externship with a corporation that had a unionized workforce, so I was able to gain
experience firsthand in that unique working environment. In addition, I wrote a research
paper about the 2019 revisions to the Georgia restrictive covenant code, and I have
enclosed a copy of that paper as a writing sample.
I have also enclosed my resume and transcript. Please let me know if you need any
