Student Satisfaction Survey Results  
SY2014- 2015 
 
In the College of Engineering (COE) of AMAIUB, Student Satisfaction survey is an ongoing effort to obtain 
feedback from students across the College in a systematic way. Understanding students' experiences and 
satisfaction  is  important  in  the  university’s  efforts  to  make  the  College  of  Engineeringmore  student-
centered.The  survey  further  overviews  the  programmes  which  will  serve  as  a  diagnostic  tool  for 
improvement. 
The  Student  Satisfaction  Survey  is  a  system-wide  survey  of  undergraduate  students.  Questions  focused 
onthe level of satisfaction  in terms of policies and procedures, facilities and learning infrastructure,  and 
academic  support  and  instruction.  The  2014-2015  Student  Satisfaction  Survey  was  administered  to 
majority of COE students. In general, COE students reported high level of satisfaction on their academic 
and co-curricular opportunities, getting an overall mean of 3.97/5.  
 
Specifically, the precise details of the students’ assessment on the three areas are summarized as follows: 
 
On Policies and Procedures, COE students were generally satisfied on the policies and procedures of the 
college  as  evidencedby  the  mean  rating  of  3.9/5,  an  indication  that  students  were  satisfied  on  the 
periodicity  of  updating  the  policies  and  procedures  pertaining  to  the  students  based  on  their  changing 
needs  and  applicable  circulars.  Moreover,  students  were  satisfied  of  their  assessment  on  the  extent  of 
their education in terms of policies and procedures in the attainment of the intended learning outcomes.  
 
On  Facilities  and Learning Infrastructures,  students  were satisfied  in terms of  sufficiency of  Information 
Communications Technology (ICT) tools and adequacy of teaching facilities to support quality of instruction 
with a rating of 4/5. However, students felt the need to improve the fitness and adequacy of the library 
facilities. 
 
On  Academic  Support,  Curriculum  and  Instruction,  students  were  satisfied  in  terms  of  the  following 
indicators:  adequacy  of  the  academic  advising,  level  of  assistance  in  addressing  students’  concerns, 
appropriateness  of  the  core  courses  of  the  programme,  and  appropriateness  of  the  capstone 
project/theses/design  project  experience  for  employment.Furthermore,  COE  students  commended  that 
their  Instructors  are  experts  in  their  respective  field.  This  paves  the  way  to  quality  instruction  that 
promotes higher order thinking skills. 
 
Overall, students by and large agreed that they are satisfied with their experience in the College of 
Engineering, especially in the area of sustainability of the curriculum to meet the demand in the world of 
work. Furthermore, the facilities and academic infrastructure of the college are a great aid in the students' 
learning process; hence, the students agreed on the excellent academic challenge provided by the college.
