Letter of Recommendation from a Sibling, Friend, or Teammate
Nominee: Please give this form and a copy of your resume to the person writing this

Rob Koranda was a 1998 graduate of Naperville North High School who died on
June 29, 2003 in the tragic Lincoln Park porch collapse. After graduating from Naperville
North, he went on to graduate from Princeton University in 2002. At the time of his
death, Rob was a financial analyst with LaSalle Bank and mentor volunteer for inner-city
students studying for their SAT exams. At NNHS, Rob was a captain of the football team
and, to him, his most honored award was receiving MVP by his teammates. Prior to his
senior year, Rob was a three sport athlete. He was involved in Youth and Government
and was President of the NNHS Investment Club. He was a student who embodied a
great spirit and pride for NNHS, his friends, family, and community. During Rob’s four
years in high school, he mentored many other students and, often unbeknownst to him,
many students found a spirit in Rob that ignited their own love for NNHS and setting
higher personal standards. He was a student that was known and respected by other
students across the inter-school cultural environment.
In honor of Rob, his family and friends have created the Rob Koranda Scholarship
Award at Naperville North High School. Award recipients will, like Rob, have an
exuberant spirit towards success in their academics, athletics, friendships, and
community. Students nominated for the Award have participated for four years on a
NNHS IHSA school sponsored athletic team as an active player, and have a grade point
average of 3.5 or above. The scholarship award is a $5,000 scholarship each year for four
out of five years of college. The recipient must uphold a college G.P.A. of a 3.0 or above,
carry a full course load, and graduate from college within five years. Each year a senior
female and male student is selected.
Your personal recommendation and affirmation of this student is a very important
aspect of the selection process. The nomination of a student for this prestigious award
shows the exemplary character and respect this student has within the school community.
