Learning Agenda Senior Researcher/Writer

educational materials, and strategy, with activities ranging from seed projects to large-scale national
and international initiatives.
The USAID funded Advancing Youth Project is a five-year project to provide basic education, social and
leadership development, and improved livelihoods to out of school youth, ages 13 – 35 in six counties of
Liberia. The Advancing Youth Project helps Liberian young people develop the basic literacy, numeracy,
workforce readiness and life skills necessary to progress academically, obtain skills training, find jobs, or
create their own employment, as well as maintain healthy lifestyles and participate in their
communities.
Advancing Youth is implementing a series of studies based on questions that have arisen during project
implementation, which makes up the project’s Learning Agenda. To assist with completion of this
Learning Agenda, the project seeks a short-term full-time consultant based in Liberia who is an
experienced researcher and report writer. An individual living in Liberia is strongly preferred; candidates
living outside of Liberia will be considered and would need to make at least one extended trip to Liberia
for field-based collaboration and support.
Position Description
The Learning Agenda Researcher/Writer will assist the Learning Agenda Manager and Technical Advisor
with the finalization of four to six research studies that are currently underway. Several of the studies
concern the project’s youth livelihoods activities and others are focused on organizational and
institutional capacity building.
The person in this position will assist with analysis of qualitative data, if needed; prepare reports based
on the study plans and resulting data; and draft short report summaries for publication. This position
reports to the Learning Agenda Manager. The work is expected to start as soon as possible and to be
completed by September 15, 2016.
Responsibilities and tasks:
If required by the study design, assist Advancing Youth staff with analysis of qualitative and/or
quantitative data
Prepare research reports, in collaboration with Advancing Youth international technical advisors
Produce short summary reports from full research reports
Qualifications:
Minimum of a university degree required; Master’s degree or higher preferred
