What is the definition of meal planning?
A meal plan refers to the process of choosing meals in advance based on your schedule, preferences, foods available, seasonal produce, and sale items. Meal planning usually involves having others (e.g. family) assist in creating the menu and grocery shopping once a week for only the items needed.
In order to plan meals for the week, you must decide what meals you will eat during the week and what meals you will not eat. It will be easier for you to make healthy meal choices if you know the meals you will prepare ahead of time, and if you have the ingredients to prepare them.
A healthy meal plan allows you to plan your meals for the entire week at once, so you know what to prepare and eat when.
