Shipper owned container (SOC) declaration

SOC container stands for Shipper Owned Container and implies that an ISO shipping container is owned by the shipper. This way you have more flexibility in unloading, and you can save demurrage and detention fees (time to return a cargo container to the port within a short time period), which is the biggest advantage of SOC shipments. When we speak about ISO shipping containers, ISO refers to the International Organization for Standardization. For any shipment for which the containers are packed and supplied by the Merchant, the Merchant is required to complete and return this declaration form to the shipping line before delivering the shipment to their warehouse.
