What is a motivational letter for a job or study application?
Motivating letters, or letters of motivation, are brief letters that describe your interests and achievements to show why you are the right candidate for a position. When you apply for a job or study program, you usually include your resume as well that provides complimentary details you do not mention in your motivation letter but that supports its content.
Motivation letters are different from cover letters because they are usually used for non-job applications. Personal motivation letter gives you the opportunity to explain your interest in a specific job, demonstrate your skills and explain why you are the right person for the role.
To be successful, your motivation letter must convince readers that you are the right person for the position or project you are applying for. The requirements in the job posting or application guidelines may give you enough information, but additional research can set you apart from other applicants.
